About William O Collins
Hello, my name is Dr. William Collins. I graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida, where I completed both a residency in otolaryngology – head & neck surgery and a fellowship in rhinology & advanced endoscopic sinus surgery. That was before going through a successful fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the Children’s National Medical Center/George Washington University School of Medicine.
Before joining the faculty of the University of Florida Department of Otolaryngology, I worked as an assistant professor at the Children’s National Medical Center/George Washington University School of Medicine. Since joining the UF faculty in 2006, I have practiced all aspects of pediatric otolaryngology, with a special emphasis on pediatric rhinology. For 10 years, I served as director of the UF Otolaryngology Residency Program.
Currently, I serve as professor and chairman of the UF Department of Otolaryngology, a role I have held since 2022, as well as the chief of pediatric otolaryngology. My research interests include the management of the pediatric airway, pediatric sinonasal conditions, and hospital and clinic operations.
Throughout my life, I’ve always felt a strong desire to serve the community. Early on, I considered careers as a police officer, firefighter, or military pilot. Ultimately, my passion for connecting with people and helping others led me to pursue a career as a physician.
While in medical school, I was captivated by the anatomy of the head and neck, and the technical precision required to work with such intricate structures. That fascination solidified my path in medicine.
Growing up, playing sports nurtured my competitive spirit, which I’ve carried into my professional life. I strive to improve myself every day, whether through patient care, surgery, or leadership roles. My goal is always to make a difference and leave things better than I found them.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching my sons play baseball and lacrosse, as well as spending time outdoors, especially fishing on the water. I’ve also taken up grilling and am working to master the art of smoking the perfect brisket and grilling the perfect steak.
