Team Sinus. For us, it is more than just our nick name. It represents our approach to exceptional patient care.
The University of Florida Division of Rhinology & Skull Base Surgery is a Team of clinicans and scientists dedicated to understanding the complex needs of our patients with upper airway diseases. We recognize that medicine is not a one size fits all approach and always looking for innovative ways to care for our patients. On top of the exceptional care provided by our fellowship trained surgeons, Drs. Jeb Justice and Brian Lobo, we also partner with providers across clinical disciplines including neurology, pulmonology, radiology, pathology and transplant to provide unsurpassed care for our patients.

As a part of this mission, we are continuously looking to the future for innovative therapies for upper airways diseases and loss of sense of smell. Our clinical team works closely with scientists, led by Dr. Jennifer Mulligan, whose expertise spans immunology, olfaction, pathology, microbology and enginering. Together we are all working to find new cures and better ways to personalize therapies to improve the quality of life of our patients. Through the unique expertise of our team and in partnership with pharmaceutical companies, we can provide clinical trials for todays emerging drugs, while simuntaiouly developing the next generation of therapies.
One of the avenues to achieve this is the one-year Rhinology Research Fellowship for students interested in pursuing Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery as a career. Each year one student is selected to participate in this multidisciplinary translational research to advance patient care for CRS patients. In addition to helping patient care via research, the students shadow Drs. Justice and Lobo in the operating room and learn meaningful skills related to patient care and research.
Private financial support is critical to helping us achieve success in our mission and vision of bringing better treatments and possible cures to our patients. We would be honored if you choose to support us and we would be delighted to tell you more about how you can make an impact.
Dr. Mulligan is an immunologist whose research is focused on identifying novel immunotherapies to treat chronic sinusitis. In collaboration with the UF Center for Smell & Taste, she is also working to understand what causes olfactory loss associated with sinusitis. Click here to see her publications.
