Resident Wellness Endowment Established Through Generous Alumni Support

In a meaningful gesture of gratitude and dedication to the future of medical education, former UF Otolaryngology resident Dr. Brittany Dobson (Class of 2018) has established a new wellness endowment to support the health and well-being of our current and future trainees. The fund, created in October 2024, reflects Dr. Dobson’s commitment to giving back to the program that shaped her career while investing in the next generation of otolaryngologists.

Having experienced the demanding nature of residency firsthand—long hours, academic pressures, and the emotional complexity of patient care—Dr. Dobson recognized the critical need for sustained resources that promote resident wellness. Her vision is to ensure that trainees have meaningful support for their mental, physical, and emotional health throughout their journey.

While endowment funds require time to grow before they can be used, Dr. Dobson’s contribution lays an important foundation. Once fully established, the endowment will help advance a range of wellness initiatives, including enhanced access to counseling resources, resident well-being programs, and activities that encourage balance and resilience during training.

Her generosity underscores the powerful impact alumni can have on strengthening our community and supporting those who follow in their footsteps. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Dobson’s investment in the future of our residency program and look forward to the positive influence this endowment will have for years to come.

AAO – HNSF Alumni Dinner

The American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Annual Meeting was held this year in Indianapolis, Indiana. Although we did not host a large event as in years past, we were delighted to have an outstanding turnout from our UF community. Current faculty, alumni, former fellows now in residency, and medical students joined together for an evening of connection and celebration.

Our continued commitment to fostering meaningful relationships across our UF Otolaryngology network—past and present—remains one of our greatest strengths. These touchpoints have proven invaluable in building a vibrant, collaborative community that extends far beyond Gainesville.

We look forward to reconnecting with everyone next year in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Lobo Shares His Expertise With Future Healthcare Leaders

Dr. Lobo recently served as a guest lecturer for a UF graduate-level Information Management course, generously sharing his time and experience with students pursuing careers in healthcare administration. He spoke about the role of data in patient care, the nuances of navigating change management, and the importance of strong partnerships between physicians and administrative leaders. His participation reflects the commitment our faculty have to giving back, mentoring future professionals, and strengthening the broader healthcare community. We are grateful to have faculty who invest so wholeheartedly in the next generation of healthcare leaders!
