Welcome to the ENT-eam
We are so excited to introduce our three newest residents to the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. We are looking forward to having them join the ENT family and seeing their growth over the next 5 years.

Advancing ENT Research
Congratulations to Cristina Benites for her most recent publications. Benites published two articles; one on oral oncology and the other on process improvement and outcomes in jaw reconstruction. Her research is important tin understanding the differences in complications and readmission rates in H&N cancer surgery sites, as well as the efficiency in process improvements. To learn more about her publications please see the following:

Alumni Spotlight
We were honored to welcome back one of our alumni, Dr. Jack Sedwick (Class of 2002), who delivered an outstanding lecture to our residents titled “Reconstruction of Nasal Defects.” His visit provided a valuable opportunity for residents to learn from a leader in the field, combining practical surgical insights with years of clinical experience. Dr. Sedwick’s presentation not only deepened their understanding of complex reconstructive techniques but also fostered meaningful discussion and mentorship.

Opportunities like this highlight the unique value of alumni returning to engage with current residents. Hearing directly from graduates who have successfully navigated their careers offers perspective that extends beyond textbooks—providing real-world insight, professional guidance, and inspiration. We are grateful for Dr. Sedwick’s continued commitment to education and for strengthening the connection between our alumni community and the next generation of surgeons.
Celebrating Doctors Day – Thank You to Our ENT Physicians and Alumni!
This Doctors Day (March 30), we recognize and thank our Otolaryngology physicians and alumni for the dedication to your patients, your communities, and to advancing our specialty.
Whether caring for patients in your own practices, leading programs across the country, or continuing your connection to UF through education and collaboration, you represent the strength and impact of our department every day.
To our current faculty and trainees, and to our alumni who continue to make a difference wherever they practice, we are grateful for the skill, compassion, and leadership you bring to otolaryngology.
Happy Doctor’s Day from your UF ENT family!
