Guest Lecturers:

Charles Elmaraghy MD, FACS, FAAP
Dr. Elmaraghy currently serves as the Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and is also a Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is the current John F. Wolfe Endowed Chair in Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Elmaraghy is board certified in Otolaryngology and Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology and received his fellowship training at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.His career interests include sinus surgery, airway problems, head and neck masses, and general pediatric otolaryngology. He is actively involved in training residents, medical students, and other health professionals, and plays a crucial role in the ENT Mentorship Program and on medical school admissions at The Ohio State University College of Medicine for the ambulatory clerkship. Dr. Elmaraghy is married to Kathryn , who is a staff RN at NCH, and has 2 children, Alice and Maxwell. He was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and is an avid Ohio State Buckeye and has been to all 3 of Ohio State’s national championship games ( including 2003 game against Dr. Collins beloved Miami Hurricanes).

Jeremiah A. Alt MD, PhD, FARS:
Dr. Jeremiah A. Alt MD PhD FARS is a Tenured Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Utah (UoU) and is the Vice Chair of Community, Engagement and Outreach (CEO) in the Department of Otolaryngology, and the Director(co) of the Sinus & Skull Base Surgery fellowship program. Dr. Alt is a fellow of the American Rhinologic Society (FARS) and the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS). He co-founded the UoU Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) Program and is the active lead for the NASBS Multidisciplinary Team of Distinction at the UoU which manages complex pediatric and adult skull base tumors across the Intermountain West. He is an adjunct Research Professor in the Departments of Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, BioMedical Engineering and a Core Member of the Nanotherapeutics Program where he is engaged in research projects and grants from the NIH as well as other extramural agencies and has published over 180 manuscripts. Through these funding mechanisms, Dr. Alt has instituted an active translational clinical research program where his group focuses on; (i) understanding the molecular basis of airway inflammation and treatment outcomes in chronic rhinosinusitis, (ii) using the gained mechanistic knowledge to research novel anti-inflammatory therapeutics, (iii) identifying biomarkers and vascular profiles to further our understanding of the key effector cells and signaling molecules and pathways implicated in chronic rhinosinusitis with implications to drug delivery while (iv) developing and validating methods to improve outcomes for patients with upper airway disease.
