Course Goals

  • To acquaint students considering careers in primary care fields with the management of the most common otolaryngologic disorders they will encounter in their practice.
  • To better prepare students to independently manage patients with routine otolaryngologic disorders by allowing them to evaluate and treat such conditions under the supervision of a faculty member.
  • To educate students as to the proper utilization of otolaryngologic consultation.
  • To provide a detailed understanding of the management of otitis, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, hoarseness, tonsillitis, skin cancers, and hearing problems via small group discussions and direct patient care.

Course Setting

Outpatient setting at the UF Health The Oaks (community based) and Shands ENT Clinics. Inpatient and surgical care are not emphasized but available to the student desiring a wider perspective.
